As organizations attempt to change the way:
  • things get done,
  • that people interact,
  • the organization(s) really functions,
a critical success factor is whether people are involved or committed to the effort.

Involvement and commitment are different! Comparing organizational change to a breakfast of ham and eggs and the roles, respectively, of the pig and the chicken in that breakfast may be helpful in understanding that difference.

In a breakfast of ham and eggs,
the chicken is involved!

The pig in that ham and egg breakfast is committed!

While we will want to involve as many people as possible, real success will not occur
until people are committed! Commitment:

  • giving of myself
  • change ? starting with me
  • hanging in when the going gets rough
  • staying the course!
